A slow morning flow to wake the body

Ten unhurried minutes that trade the snooze button for a longer, easier spine.

A slow morning flow to wake the body

Mornings set the tone for everything that follows. Instead of springing straight into the day, spend ten minutes moving through gentle shapes that lengthen the spine, open the chest, and remind the body it is allowed to move slowly.

A slow morning flow to wake the body

Begin seated. Let the breath arrive before the movement does — a few rounds of quiet inhaling and longer exhaling. Then roll the shoulders, reach the arms overhead, and fold forward with soft knees. There is no pose to reach, only a range to explore.

Consistency matters more than intensity. A short flow you actually repeat will do far more than an ambitious routine you abandon by Thursday.

A few reminders

  • Keep the knees soft in every forward fold.
  • Let the exhale be longer than the inhale.
  • Move to the edge of sensation, never into strain.

Questions

How long should a morning practice be?

Ten minutes is plenty to start. The goal is a habit you keep, not a workout you dread.

Do I need to be flexible already?

No. Flexibility is the result of practice, not a prerequisite for it.
