Releasing the neck and shoulders

Undo the desk hunch with a few careful movements.

Releasing the neck and shoulders

The neck and shoulders carry the day's stress like a shelf carries books. By afternoon they are stacked with tension we rarely notice until it aches.

Releasing the neck and shoulders

The release is small and precise: slow neck tilts, shoulder rolls that actually reach their full circle, and a gentle opening of the chest to counter the forward hunch of the keyboard.

Do it often and briefly. Two minutes, several times a day, keeps the shelf from overloading.

A few reminders

  • Move the neck slowly and never force a turn.
  • Let the shoulders drop away from the ears.
  • Open the chest to balance the desk hunch.

Questions

Why do my shoulders creep up when I work?

Stress and concentration quietly raise them; a periodic reset lowers them again.

How often should I take a break?

A brief reset every 30–60 minutes keeps tension from building.
